Shadows: The Myth Awakens Reader Reviews
Daniel Harry’s Shadows: The Myth Awakens is one of those thrillers that grabs you by the collar from the opening scene and refuses to let go. What begins as a brutal murder in a quiet Texas town quickly spirals into something far darker, blending crime investigation with ancient Native mythology in a way that feels both unsettling and fascinating.
The book hooked me early with the introduction of Bob Hardy, a man still scarred by the horrific loss of his wife years earlier. When the new killing mirrors her death almost exactly, the emotional punch is immediate. Harry does a great job getting you inside Bob’s head, his grief, his anger, his wary determination and it makes the mystery feel more grounded and personal than most supernatural thrillers manage. His dynamic with Detective Archie Jenkins provides both heart and tension; you feel the weight of old wounds reopening.
But the real intrigue comes when the narrative shifts to the Kabano Tribe and their medicine man, Two Dogs LeBeouf. These chapters were some of my favorites, rich with cultural detail, mythic dread, and the sense that something ancient is stirring just out of sight. Harry clearly did his homework on Southeastern tribal lore, and the monster at the story’s center feels genuinely mythical rather than just another fictional creature. The way it bridges the gap between folklore and modern technology (once revealed) is actually pretty clever and gives the horror an unexpected twist.
As the two storylines converge, the police procedural and the tribal reckoning, the pacing tightens and the stakes ramp up quickly. The supernatural elements never drown out the human ones; instead, they’re woven together in a way that made the final act feel both epic and intimate.
If I have any critique, it’s that a few moments of exposition run a bit long, especially when explaining the meteorological event and the creature’s origins. But they’re small bumps in what is otherwise a gripping, atmospheric read.
Overall, Shadows: The Myth Awakens delivers a satisfying blend of mystery, horror, and folklore. It’s eerie without being gratuitous, emotionally grounded without slowing down the tension, and imaginative in a way that lingers after the last page. If you enjoy thrillers with a supernatural edge, especially ones rooted in real cultural myths, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

Shadows pulled me in right away with its creepy murder and the way it ties into old "tribal legends". The mix of real-life investigation work and supernatural mystery is amazing—it feels natural, not over the top. The characters are familiar and easy to connect with. The creature is not only terrifying but fascinating. The way it enters the modern world is clever. If you like thrillers, folklore and a lot of tension, this book is definitely worth reading.

The story flows easily and captures the reader into a town’s nightmare! Like a great suspense movie, you, both, couldn’t look but couldn’t look away. And I couldn’t put it down!

Shadows kept me wanting to read more. Where did this menace come from? Why is this happening near Houston? How will it be figured out and defeated? For horror lovers, this is a must read. Also, as a Texan, I loved the setting.

Shadows is such a good suspenseful book. It definitely keeps you wondering throughout most of the book. The author is great about giving you enough details to keep you interested, but not enough to help you figure out what is preying on the town. I definitely recommend you read it. Can’t wait for his next book!

Ramblings of an Old Poot Reader Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Laugh-Out-Loud Stroll Through a Life Well-Lived
Ramblings of an Old Poot is exactly what the world needs more of humor with heart, and stories that make you smile for no good reason other than they're honest, hilarious, and real. Daniel Harry has the rare gift of making the ordinary feel extraordinary. Whether he's talking about lost hair or fish tales, every story carries a down-home charm that hits you right in the funny bone.
This collection doesn’t just entertain, it connects. You can feel the love he has for storytelling, his family, and the joy of a good laugh (especially the kind that sneaks up on you when you least expect it). It reminded me of sitting on a porch with a wise and witty uncle who’s lived a full life and still knows how to laugh at himself.
Highly recommend if you need a pick-me-up, a smile, or just want to remember that life even in its silliest moments is worth telling stories about.
Thanks for the laughs, Daniel. You nailed it.

These "Ramblings" are exactly what the author promises—a chance to slow down, smile, and remember that life is full of funny little moments worth holding onto. The stories feel personal and honest; like sitting with a friend with a tall drink around a fire telling family tales. Some made me laugh, some felt too familiar, and all of them carried a sense of heart and nostalgia. In a world that feels a little too serious these days, this book is a reminder that a good giggle really does go a long way.

Read this today and the first one I read was the “bottled water” story! HILARIOUS! I fell in love with his humor! I am a manager for an electrical department so I knew exactly what he was saying. The way he describes the situation, the people and what happens next is just unbelievably FUNNY! Thank you Daniel for such a humorous book!!!

If we are blessed, we all have a grandfather or father who told crazy stories. If you did, you will enjoy this book. If you didn't, you need this book because you will enjoy it! I set to read this one evening in bed. I caught myself laughing out loud! My husband asked, "what are you laughing at?" I could not read it to him, because every time I started to read, I started laughing! IT'S A MUST HAVE!

A unique take on an overlooked ancient artifact. Only instead of a peaceful prophet, this time the ring chooses to empower a warrior. A twist that taps into the grit and darkness of modern apocalyptic fiction while still engaging with divine themes. Readers who enjoy action woven with spirituality will find this compelling.

A fresh modern take on the complexities and responsibilities of a normal person becoming a savior for humanity. The book is a page turner that captivates the reader while also making them think about the struggles of good vs evil. This would be a great discussion book for book clubs. Highly recommended.

What a great read! The book got my attention right from the start. The combination of the action/thriller with the underlying religious tone was something so different. Peter's character was so easy to connect with. This is a great read for any level of spiritual readers!

It's well written; if you're a Christian or Zionist you'll probably enjoy it. The book centers on theological, social, and political issues more than individuals' character arc. It's basically lord of the rings meets the book of revalation aka apocalypse. I appreciated it but I can easily imagine Moslem or Atheist readers might find it off-putting. Buddhists would be likely to simply ignore it. Well, if you want a political play-out of the book of revalation in a contemporary context with overtones of lord of the rings here it is. Some readers will love it, I've tried to let you know whether that is likely to be you or not. An entertaining tale with morals i.e. a morality play.

The Jesus Ring reimagines Revelation with a gripping modern twist. When veteran Peter Christian discovers an ancient ring once worn by Christ himself, he’s thrust into a divine war between faith and darkness. The ring transforms him, allowing direct communion with God as he and eleven chosen disciples race to save what remains of humanity. Daniel Harry delivers a fast-paced, imaginative story filled with action, prophecy, and moral weight — a thrilling vision of redemption and apocalypse.

This book caught my attention because I've always been curious about different interpretations of Revelation. The author does a pretty good job mixing modern day stuff with biblical prophecy, and I liked how the main character is a veteran dealing with PTSD - it felt more relatable than your typical chosen one story.
What really stuck with me was how the book explores faith when everything seems hopeless. Peter's journey from struggling with his past to accepting this huge responsibility made me think about my own relationship with faith. I mean, we all wonder sometimes if there's really a bigger plan, right? The whole concept of God giving humanity one last chance was thought-provoking.

The Jesus Ring surprised me with its bold mix of faith, science fiction, and apocalyptic adventure. Daniel Harry takes big creative swings, blending biblical prophecy with technology and moral conflict in a way that kept me turning pages. The story’s intensity and emotional stakes made it more than just an action-packed end-times novel—it also explores redemption, faith, and purpose in the face of darkness. Whether or not you’re into religious fiction, this one stands out for its ambition and heart. Helpful
